OBDBoost: Wireless Turbo Gauge
OBDBoost is a travel and navigation app for iPhone that utilizes real-time data from your car's ECU to display a wireless turbo gauge on your iOS device. With its responsive gauge, OBDBoost provides a realistic and immersive experience, surpassing some OEM digital gauges.
To connect OBDBoost to your car, you will need a compatible OBD-II adaptor, which is sold separately. The app is designed to work specifically with Bluetooth adaptors that use the ELM327 chip.
Key features of OBDBoost include real-time data display, smooth and fluid 60 FPS needle animation, two available scales for boost and vacuum pressure, digital pressure readout, adjustable response speed and smoothing, brightness override option for day driving, and automatic connection upon opening the app.
While most ELM327 Bluetooth OBD-II adaptors should work with OBDBoost, the developer acknowledges that compatibility with all adaptors on the market has not been confirmed. Users are encouraged to contact the developer with information regarding compatible or incompatible adaptors to improve support for a wider range of models in the future.
Please note that OBDBoost requires a compatible Bluetooth OBD-II adaptor (ELM327-based) and a compatible 1996 or newer vehicle. The app reads the MAP (Manifold Air Pressure) value from OBD-II to determine the current level of boost or vacuum. It is important to understand that this gauge is not intended for professionally-accurate readings, but rather for entertainment purposes.
